Wednesday 4th October

Slept so much better tonight. The bins got emptied at 23.50 and I had already been asleep an hour. The rest of my night was undisturbed! Hurrah. My alarm pissed me off at 7.15 though and typically I was ready far too quickly. Think I´ll set it for 7.30 tomorrow. Left the house at 7.55 and was on a bus at 8.15. Got to school just after 9 and bumped into Angel and went to class with him. It was with his nightmare 4th year group but they were much better behaved today sitting down doing book work. I think as soon as you give them the opportunity for wider exercises or less structured work it just descends into chaos. After that Angel had a free and no other teachers were around to ask to follow so I just sat in the staff room with him, flicking through the resource books each year uses and thinking about planning something. I wrote my sis a letter too. Will try to remember to post that this evening. Have no faith in the spanish postal system though. As far as I recall from 2 years ago it takes about 2 weeks for anything to get from A to B.
After the break, Rita appeared so I asked her if she had class and she did. I offered to sit and help out and she asked me if I´d talk to the class about Reading and England and English things and my life in general so I said ok. lol. Totally unprepared. They were a 2nd year class. I´m not sure how old that makes them, about 13 I think. Anyway I stood in front of this class and started going on about Reading and who I live with and where my bro and sis live now and that I study in Exeter. They loved it. lol. Apparently they´re usually a really raucous class but they must have really enjoyed having something different cos while they still talked over each other a bit they were all trying to form questions and asking things they wanted to know. Like did I have a boyfriend and do I have a car. lol. I really enjoyed it.

After that I went to another 4th year class of Angels. They´re totally different to the troublesome 4th years he has. There is only one girl in his troublesome class and there are many more in this other one. I think that´s why they´re better behaved. They had fewer questions for me than the 2nd years but it wasn´t just that. They were shyer in asking. They asked me if I thought spanish was hard and I said yes. But I´m glad I don´t have to learn english! Anyway today really reinforced what a novelty I am to them and I think I´m going to really enjoy being at school, especially once I have a routine in place. I´m getting my timetable tomorrow but only starting it on tuesday I think.

I think next monday I´m going to go to the beach in Las Palmas. Or I´ll get a bus to another area. Maybe La Garita and Las Salinetas. I dunno. The world is my oyster.

Went to the bank after school to pass on my new address. I´d also been told I could go and collect my card this week. They shut at 1.30 and I left school just after 1 and started the walk there. I popped into Movistar first to ask about selecting 5 international favourite numbers so texts are cheaper, but my chum Helen wasn´t there so I said I´d go back this afternoon. I headed to the bank and got a number 10 mins before they closed. They ended up still serving people until 2.10 so I didn´t really have anything to worry about and I passed on my address and got my card without a problem. Apparently they´re going to post me a little gift too for opening an account: I´m not really interested though. It´s just a little bag. lol. Never mind, thought that counts.
